An actuation device is described comprising first elements, second elements and connecting elements for the series connection of the first elements and the second elements. At least one of the first elements and of the second elements is expandable or shrinkable in a given direction if it can be subjected to drive energy. The first and second elements are arranged essentially perpendicularly to this given direction.
