For a separator provided with a reservoir made from plastic, it is proposed to surround this reservoir with a reinforcement cage which is formed from hollow metal sleeves 31 and to surround this reservoir together with the cage, by a sealed outer casing 29 made from plastic. In this case, the sleeves 31, due to their corrosion-free arrangement no longer themselves have to be provided with a plastic coating. This results, particularly for underground, buried reservoirs, in a stable, corrosion- free structure which is able to withstand high external pressures and complies with stringent environmental requirements. On the other hand, the reinforcement cage can be assembled by simple welding work from uncoated, hollow sleeves. <IMAGE>
