PURPOSE:To print images with the little void and high density, by providing a thermal transfer ink layer comprising a specified polyethylene resin, a wax and a coloring agent. CONSTITUTION:The ink layer comprises a polyethylene resin having a melting or softening point of 60-150 deg.C, a molecular weight of 1,000-100,000, a penetration of not more than 20 at 25 deg.C and a melt viscosity of 100-10,000cP at 140 deg.C, a wax having a melting point of 50-110 deg.C and a coloring agent, and the three components are used in dry-basis amounts of 50-80wt%, 0-30wt% and 5-45wt%, respectively, First, a wax, a thermoplastic resin, a softener or a wax emulsion or a styrene oligomer and a hydrogenated petroleum resin are mixed or dispersed, and the resultant material is applied to a heat-resistant base, followed by drying to provide a thermal releasable layer. Then, the polyethylene resin, the wax and the coloring agent or the like are dispersed or melt- dispersed in a solvent on the releasable layer. |
