PURPOSE:To give a high-quality recorded image even on a recording medium having performed perfectly and easily, by providing a thermal transfer layer comprising a hydrophilic barrier layer between a colored layer and an adhesive layer. CONSTITUTION:The terminal transfer layer 3 provided on a base consists of an oleophilic colored layer 3a, a hydrophilic barrier layer 3b and an oleophilic adhesive layer 3c. The colored layer 3a comprises a coloring agent dissolved or dispersed in an oleophilic heat-fusible or thermosoftening binder. The barrier layer 3b is hydrophilic to such a degree that it can function to prevent the coloring agent from penetrating from the layer 3a into other layer and accelerate releasing of the colored layer at the surface of the recorded image, and is adhesive to such a degree that it can maintain the integrity of the thermal transfer layer at normal temperature and when being heated. The layer 3b is transparent of had the same color as that of the recording medium, and serves for erasure or correction of recorded images. The adhesive layer 3b becomes adhesive when being heated, and functions to accelerate the layer 3c becomes adhesive when being heated, and functions to accelerate the transfer and adhesion of the thermal transfer layer 3 as a whole to the recording medium. |
