<p>PURPOSE:To relieve the residual stress in a structure without deteriorating the corrosion resistance in a shortened heat treatment time by directly blowing air on the thick parts of the constituent plates of the structure to increase the cooling rate during the heat treatment of the structure and by making the cooling rate of the whole structure uniform. CONSTITUTION:For example, in case of an austenitic stainless steel plate, the plate is heated to >=900 deg.C at which the residual stress can be relieved nearly perfectly and air is blown on the thick part to carry out forced rapid cooling. The amount of air blown is increased or decreased by the operation of a valve so as to reduce a difference in temp. between parts of the steel plate. Thus, the cooling rate of the whole steel plate is made uniform.</p> |
