<p>. A backgauge device for a metal working machine such as a shearing machine or press brake includes a beam member supporting a work stopper for butting against a workpiece. The movable body supporting one end of the beam member which supports the work stopper, and the movable body supporting the other end of the beam member, move as one body in the forward and backward directions. One edge of the beam member is supported in a horizontally rotatable manner by one movable body, while the other edge of the beam member is supported in a longitudinally slidable manner by the other movable body. Means for tilting the beam member forwardly or backwardly as needed are provided. Separate drive devices drive the left and right movable bodies. The construction is such that it is unnecessary to synchronize and control each individual left and right movable body during movement.</p> |
