PURPOSE:To obtain a high-sensitivity thermal recording material suitable for high-speed recording, having excellent preservability of recorded images and free of lowering of whiteness, by using a specified compound as a color reaction agent. CONSTITUTION:At least one compound of general formula [I] is used as a color reaction agent, in a thermal recording material employing a color reaction between a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a color reaction agent capable of developing the color of the dye on making contact with the latter. In the formula, X is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkoxyl, and each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxyl, aralkyloxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, aralkylthio or arylthio, with the proviso that R1 and R2, or R2 and R3 may form a naphthalene ring, tetrahydronaphthalene ring or indane ring together with the adjacent benzene ring. |
