The holder has openings accommodating lumps of earth or pots for plants. The openings are formed in a plate and from which flexible portions (6) protrude to grip the pots etc. (6). The protruding portions exert radial forces on the pots and can deflect in the radial direction when these are extracted. They can be in the form of elastic fingers or pins. The plate can be arranged to bend in one direction. The fingers can have hooked ends extending towards the axes of their openings.
