PURPOSE:To obtain the title material having an excellent graininess and sharp ness and a broad exposing range by lowering an iodine content contd. in the most outer shell of a silver halide emulsion particle than that of an inner layer of the silver halide emulsion particle, and by specifying a silver density contg. in the silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:The iodine content compdd. in the most outer layer of the silver halide particle is <=10mol%. The iodine contact contd. in the inner side from the most uuter shell of the silver halide particle is higher than that of the most outer shell thereof by >=6mol%. When the silver density (d) contg. in the precribed silver halide emulsion layer is expressed by the following relationship (d)=N/V, (d)>=4.0X10<-1>g/cm<2> wherein; N (unit g) (expressed in a weight of a metallic silve) is the total silver amount contd. in the silver halide emulsion layer, (unit cm<3>) V is a volume of the silver halide emulsion layer. If the prescribed silver density is too high, as the side effects such as the deterioration of the graininess and the increasement of a fog are easy to generate, the preferable silver density range is a range of 5.0X10<-1>-1.2g/cm<3>. Said range is the most preferable for a blue sensitive emulsion layer. |
