Fluorene derivs. (I; R4=C1-6alkyl; R5=-CONH2; R6=-(CH2)2CHO; R5, R6 form ring such as (III) ), useful as intermediates for antiarrythmic agents such as indecainide, were prepd. by the reaction of (II) with R4NH2 and reducing agnet. I are also useful as selective, pre or post-emergence herbicides; and the corresp. esters have anticoccidial and antibacterial activity and also influence the aggregation of blood platelets.
