PURPOSE:To prevent the blow-up and hiccup phenomenon of an engine and to smoothly change speed by duty-controlling a solenoid valve in a designated limit range for the goal rotational frequency of a driving pulley according to a throttle opening, and on-off controlling same outside the limit range. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower limit values having upper and lower designated limit ranges are set for the goal rotational frequency of a driving pulley according to a throttle opening. A solenoid valve for supplying oil pressure to a pulley control valve is controlled in such a manner to be in OFF region when the actual input rotational frequency is above the upper limit value, and be in ON region when it is below the lower limit value. When the actual input rotational frequency is between the upper and lower limit values, the solenoid valve is controlled at a duty ratio corresponding to the actual input rotational frequency, whereby the goal rotational frequency and the actual input rotational frequency can be smoothly matched without the occurrence of the blow-up and hiccup phenomenon of an engine.
