In a wood chipper having a motor-driven chopping rotor 13 provided with peripheral chopping knives 15 and a counter- knife 16 interacting therewith, the counter-knife is attached to a bridge 17 which is movable from an operating or chopping position, in which the counter- knife 16 is in the immediate vicinity of the path of circulation 15A for the chopping knives, into a position at considerable distance from this path. The bridge is connected to the machine stand 11 by means of rigid circuit-breaker elements 32, which are arranged to give way whenever the counter-knife is overloaded so as to allow the bridge to distance itself from the path of circulation 15A of the chopping knives. <IMAGE> |
