PURPOSE:To prevent generation of cambers on a steel slab during rolling by measuring a temperature of both surfaces of the steel slab and adjusting heating so that temperatures of both the surfaces nearly equal to each other for a hot rolling process. CONSTITUTION:A steel slab heated to a prescribed temperature in a heating furnace 12 is fed to a rolling mill 14 through a carrier path 10 and is rolled by a couple of rolling rolls 16 and 18. The 1st and 2nd temperature detectors 22, 24 and the 1st and 2nd heaters 26, 28 are disposed over and under the carrier path 10 respectively and those instruments and equipment are connected with a control unit 30. The temperature of the top part of the slab discharged from the furnace 12 on the carrier path 10 is measured by the temperature detectors 22 and 24 and all measured values are sent to the control unit 30, which compares differences between all measured value and controls the heaters 26 and 28 so that temperatures of the upper and lower surfaces of the top part of the slab nearly equal to each other. In that way, cambers of the slab and the like caused by a difference in surface temperatures after rolling are prevented. |
