PURPOSE:To permit an image to appear rapidly in the diffusion transfer photographic system, to enhance its sharpness, and to retain its sharpness without any change during storage for a long time by forming a layer containing a specified polymer mordant. CONSTITUTION:The photographic element having strong mordanting power and not causing turbidity after appearance of the image can be obtained by forming one or more layers each containing the copolymer mordant represented by the formula shown on the right in which A is a monomer unit (copolymerization component) derived from a copolymerizable monomer having >=2 ethylenically unsaturated groups; B is a monomer unit (copolymerization component) derived from a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer except the monomer unit of A and a monomer unit having a proportion of z; R<1> is H or lower alkyl; each of R<2>-R<4> is alkyl or aralkyl or 2 or all of them may connect with each other to form a ring together with N, and the total C number is >=12; R<5> is 1-20C alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino, or halogen; m is 0, 1, or 2; n is 1-12; X<-> is an anion; x is 30-80mol%; y is 0-60mol%; and z is 10-70mol%.
