Decomposition point; Browns at 165 deg.C and decomposes at 240 deg.C. Specific rota tory power [alpha]<20>D=-72--88 deg. (C=1.00) pH; 6.5 in 1.0% aqueous solution. Light brown. Color reaction; Positive to the Lowry reaction, biuret reaction, etc., and negative to the orcinol hydrochloric acid reaction. Molecular weight; 2X10<4>-5X10<5> (measured by the gel filtration method). Soluble in water and slight soluble or isoluble in methanol, etc. Adsorbed on hydroxyapatite and eluted by 1X10<-1>M phosphoric acid buffer solution]. USE:An antitumor agent. PREPARATION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptococcus and capable of producing an antitumor component SPF10CAP2 is cultivated to collect the aimed antitumor component SPF10CAP2 from the resultant culture.
