PURPOSE:To produce a homogeneous Ca-S free-cutting steel having superior performance while inhibiting the erosion of a furnace by blowing Ca and S into a molten steel in the form of CaS. CONSTITUTION:When a Ca-S free-cutting steel is produced, Ca and S are blown into a molten steel in the form of powdery or granular CaS by an injection method. The amounts of Ca and S can be regulated nearly accurately with out generating the excess or deficiency, and Ca-S inclusion is uniformly produced and dispersed in the molten steel without eroding refractories, so a Ca-S free- cutting steel having stable quality is effectively produced. |
