The audio-frequency ripple-control receiver (1) has a clock generator (9, 17) which is supplied from an energy store (6) during short mains voltage failures and produces synchronising pulses at a frequency which is proportional to the mains frequency. These synchronising pulses ensure that the operation of the receiver (1) is kept synchronous with the mains oscillations when the mains voltage returns.
