To display titles and possibly starting time of the programme contributions currently received or receivable in plain text on the screen of a television receiver, it is proposed that the programme index pages contained in the teletext signal be correlated with the programme contribution identification signals at the transmitter end so that the title of the programme contribution currently transmitted is generated as teletext special page and is inserted into the teletext signal and that, at the receiving end, at least the teletext special page allocated to the programme currently received is decoded and the information on the title of the programme contribution currently transmitted, contained therein, is inserted into the television picture.
