A cross-country ski has a running edge, this running edge (2) being arranged on the inner edge of the running surface (1) which faces the other ski of a pair, extending only over the region of the centre of the ski, and having a technical hardness greater than the hardness of the coating material or of a running edge on the outer edge of the running surface (1). The cross-country ski is of light weight and has excellent slip properties. As a result of the internal running edge (2), the inner edge is protected, especially when the skating step is used. <IMAGE>
