Device for measuring the gap and tangential force in the same apparatus. The measurement is performed with the aid of a surrounding band which compresses the piston ring to be tested until abutting takes place. Different sizes of piston ring can be measured without tools dependent on the workpiece by varying the diameter of the clamping band. <IMAGE>
