A description is given of a branching-off means between an essentially vertically running discharge line and a collecting tank, preferably between a downpipe and a stormwater-collecting tank. The branching-off means works without movable parts and is designed such that it is always ready for operation and is secured against overflow. Furthermore, the branching-off means is of simple construction and mounting can also take place subsequently on existing downpipes with simple means and low outlay. In the interior of the downpipe there is arranged a funnel-type collecting element which opens into the collecting tank via an inlet line. In this arrangement, the filling level of the collecting tank which can be achieved is located at least at the same level as the inlet opening of the collecting line, and the inlet line opens into the collecting tank beneath the filling level which can be achieved.
