<p>A shaft (13) rotatable in bearings (12) within a body (10) is sealed by sealing rings (19) about the shaft (13) and within annular recesses (16, 17) in the clamp (14) and the body (10), the sealing rings having outwardly convergent contact flanges (21) from the inner parts of which base flanges (20) extend obliquely in opposite directions, resilient rings (22) compressed between the base flanges and the annular recesses (16, 17) urging the sealing rings (19) into annular line contact near to their outer peripheries, at least one of the contact flanges (21) having a ceramic coating (26).</p> |
