Cutting insert for chip-removing machining

The patent application is concerned with a cutting insert for a chip-removing machining which is of multiple use, with a basic body made of steel and with an annular carbide cutting tip fastened on the latter. Provision is made, according to the invention, for the bits to be separated from one another by divisions and the divisions to be designed with a reduced cross-section in relation to the bits, in such a way that, after the soldering or after a stressing of the bits, the annular cutting tip has cracks in the region of the divisions in order to form bits separated from one another. The essential advantage is in the provision of a multiple cutting tip which can be produced economically and in which all existing bits can be inserted, even when one bit or another has been damaged, for example by breakage. This is of particular interest in the case of cutting inserts on one side with three or more bits.
