PURPOSE: To obtain an air blower which can blow a large quantity of air by forming lateral suction ports and a lateral discharge port in the peripheral wall of a casing so that the ports cannot be arranged along the axial direction of the casing. CONSTITUTION: A casing 1 is constituted by combining a pair of half casings 101 and 102 made of a synthetic resin and is provided with closed wall sections 12A and 12B which are closed at both ends in the axial direction. The peripheral wall section 11 of the casing 1 is composed of four rectangular side wall sections 11a-11d. An opening 5a constituting a lateral discharge port through which air is discharged in the radial direction from the inside of a cavity 4 is formed in one side wall section 11a at a position close to the end of the section 11a on the discharging direction side and three openings 5b-5d constituting lateral suction ports are formed in the remaining three side wall sections 11b-11d at positions near the ends of the sections 11b-11d on the sucking direction sides. The size L1 of the wall part of the section 11a in the axial direction is decided so that the blade of an impeller 3 cannot be exposed completely from the opening 5a. Therefore, an air blower which can blow a sufficiently large quantity of air can be obtained.
