<p>The thickener contains (a) 60-0.5 pts. of a water-soluble natural or synthetic polymer, and (b) 40-99.5 pts. of cross-linked synthetic polymer capable of swelling. Both (a) and (b) carry the same charge of >=1 is non-ionic. (a) is pref. a synthetic polymer prepared from at least one monoethylenically unsatd. monomer having a viscosity, as a 1.5% soln. in 1% acetic acid of >350, pref. >4000 cps., measured with a Brookfield viscometer at room temp. using a No. 4 spindle at 10 r.p.m., e.g. (meth)acrylamide, (meth)acrylic acid, 2-acrylamido-2-methyl propane sulphonic acid. For nylon tufted carpet, the printing paste having improved penetration and sharply defined patterns being obtd.</p> |
