This invention relates to a dispersing agent which has a dispersing effect and neutralizing effect on lubricating oil. Calcium, magnesium, aluminium, brium compds. and xylene are mixed and heated. Alcohol is added to the mixt. and then this reaction mixt. is cooled at 20-30≦̸C. This mixt. is reacted with carbon dioxide and alkylbenzone sulfonic acid to give the dispersing agent. This dispersing agent is basic.
