PURPOSE:To avoid a wrong emulation by connecting a peripheral hardware emulation board that can emulate only the peripheral hardware part of a subject microcomputer. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral hardware emulation board 7 which can emulate only the peripheral hardware part of a subject microcomputer is connected according to the subject microcomputer. The data memory area of an information memory 6 of the board 7 where the subject microcomputer can be used is copied to a guard break control circuit 8 via a supervisor 1. When a common emulation chip 4 gives an access to the data memory area which is included in the subject microcomputer, an emulation stopping signal is delivered from a break control circuit 9. This prevents the wrong emulation owing to a common emulation chip corresponding to a family microcomputer having a larger size than the subject microcomputer.
