To improve the operational efficiency of an outward flow filter bag, incoming air is sepd. by passing part outwardly of a tubular cylinder inserted into the bag and the remainder through the cylinder so that the flows pass through different secting of the bag wall. There may be a number of coaxial cylinders delivering air flows into the bag and of different lengths, with the largest dia. cylinder at the bag inlet end and the smallest nearest to the bag closed end. Each cylinder is pref. coupled together by a frustoconical skeletal structure permitting free air flow to provide support and alignment.
