New propanediamides and processes for their preparation

Propanediamides and processes for their manufacture. These propanediamides correspond to the formula: <IMAGE> in which R<1> and R<2> represent a linear or branched alkyl radical, optionally containing one or two ether oxide functional groups, and R<3> represents hydrogen, an alkyl radical optionally containing one or two ether oxide functional groups, or the radical of formula: <IMAGE> provided that R<3> does not represent a hydrogen atom, the methyl radical or the ethyl radical when R<1> and R<2> both represent an alkyl radical. The pentasubstituted propanediamides corresponding to formula I can be prepared by reacting the corresponding tetrasubstituted propanediamides with the halide R<3>X in the presence of n-butyllithium or t-butyllithium. These propanediamides can be used as agents for extracting actinides and lanthanides. <IMAGE>
