PURPOSE:To prevent the decline of the intensity of illumination of a picture so as to make the picture clear and increase the appreciation angle of the picture, by coloring a black-and-white picture formed on a liquid crystal panel by simultaneously superposing the pictures of three color primaries of the picture on a screen by using transmissive lights. CONSTITUTION:When each light source 8, 8', and 8'' is turned on and a black- and-white TV set is actuated, the same black-and-white picture is formed as set on each liquid crystal panel 4, 4' and 4''. Lights of three primaries, red, green, and blue, are made incident to and passed through the black-and-white picture through filters 9, 9', and 9'', and the lights are enlarged by means of lenses 2, 2', and 2'' and simultaneously superposed on a screen 3 so as to form a picture. Therefore, the picture formed on the screen 3 after enlargement is colored by the superposition, but, since the picture element of the black-and- white picture of each liquid crystal panel is fine and the pictures are clear and, in addition, the transmissive lights of three primaries are superposed upon each other, the intensity of illumination of the picture is increased by almost three times. Furthermore, wide-angle appreciation becomes possible t the picture of the screen. |
