A motor vehicle seat has an inclination adjuster for the squab (1) and an additional securing device to lock the squab (1) in a predetermined inclined position. The additional securing device operates dependently on an acceleration force in the direction of travel acting on a safety belt (5) which is introduced into a pivotable securing component (7) by the safety belt system (5) wich takes the form of the locking engagement of a partial region (7b) with a mating component (1a). The additional securing device is arranged on the side of the vehicle seat opposite that of the inclination adjuster. The securing component (7) can pivot about a spindle (7a) integral with the seat and the mating component (1a) is firmly secured to and pivotable with the squab (1). In such a motor vehicle seat there is no need for the otherwise necessary fitting of an inclination adjuster on both sides. The fitting of an inclination adjuster on one side and the additional securing device on the opposite side of the seat is sufficient.
