The device has a housing (11) with feeder box (12) and a ratchet arm (16), which is pivoted when the box is moved to and fro. An intermediate wheel (15) is connected to the arm via a one way clutch, and is turnable through a set angle, when the arm is pivoted in one direction. A ratchet wheel (14) with feeder claws (14a) engages with a screw conveyor belt. The wheel has a transmission part engaging with the intermediate wheel, so that the ratchet wheel is turned in one feeder direction, when the intermediate wheel is turned. With every to- and fro movement of the feeder box, the conveyor belt is moved through a distance, corresponding to the distance between the screws carried on the belt.
