PURPOSE:To make the setting of one after printing unit possible while numbering printing is carried out by the other after printing unit, by a method wherein a strut is installed adjacent to the base of a press, a pair of upper and lower after printing units being rotatable within a fixed range attached thereto and the rise and fall of the upper after printing unit is made possible. CONSTITUTION:The gear 39 of a lower after printing unit 21 is engaged with the gear 40 of an impression cylinder 4 and a printing press is operated. When a print paper has passed a blanket cylinder and reahed the contact part of the impression cylinder 4 with a numbering machine, the printing of continuous numbers is carried out. During that time, the numbering machine of an upper after printing unit 20 is set in advance. When the numbering printing by the lower after printing unit 21 is completed, after the rotation of the arm 25 of the upper after printing unit 20 in the direction of onto the press base side, the arm 33 of the lower after printing unit 21 is rotated in the direction away from the press base 1 and a numbering mechanism is moved to the position of non operation. When the operation button for the upper after printing unit 20 is pressed, a rise and fall case 22 falls along a strut 19 and the numbering mechanism is also moved to the lower operating position. Then, the numbering printing is carried out. |
