PURPOSE:To enable the spacing between a printing head and a printing surface of a platen to be easily changed, by a system wherein a plate support provided between a carriage and a rear plate is moved relative to the carriage. CONSTITUTION:The rear plate 13 is fixed to a chassis at both ends thereof. Of the plate support 11, a sliding surface abutting on a carriage base is provided with a slant surface 11b inclined against a sliding surface abutting on the rear plate, whereas a carriage-side sliding surface to be slidden on the surface 11b is also provided with a slant surface 12a, and a lever 11a is provided as one body with the support 11. Further, the support 11 is energized upward by a spring 18, and the position thereof is determined by wavy projections provided at the lower surface of the spring on the carriage base side. With the support 11 moved in the direction of arrow A, the carriage base 12 is lowered in the direction of arrow B, and is turned counterclockwise with a main shaft 17 as a center, whereby the gap between the platen 14 and the printing head 15 is enlarged. The gap can be reduced by an operation reverse to the above. |
