In a device for protecting an object situated in a motor vehicle, especially a car radio, against theft, an electrically actuable screen is arranged and can be actuated in such a way that it covers the object when the motor vehicle is not being used. The screen may be coupled to the ignition lock or to a central locking arrangement. If the screen is forcibly opened, an alarm can be triggered.
