A sausage twister and cutter consists of a panel (1) with a series of twisting units (2) at regular intervals round it, alternating with tensioners/cutters (3), the latter being located in radial grooves (4). The length of the sausages is controlled by a simple adjustment of the position of the tensioners/cutters in the radial grooves. Each twisting unit consists of a pair of facing reciprocating conveyors, connected through a gear or pulley mechanism and each tensioner/cutter has three functions: to control the length of the sausages, to tighten the twisted sections between them, and to cut through the twisted sections to separate the sausages.
