The invention concerns a pointer, in particular for a motor vehicle dashboard, comprising a hub (110) adapted to be fixed on the output shaft of drive means and a transversal index hand (150), made of an optical conductive material, characterised in that the hub (110) is arranged as a lighting outlet, and the index hand (150) comprises in line with the hub (110), means (170) for directly returning towards the body of the index hand (150) part of the light received from the hub (110), and at least a secondary cavity (180. 190) forming filter and diaphragm, such that the pointer has from moulding a homogeneous brightness over its whole length, without any added insert.
