PRODUCTION OF CARCINOEMBRYONIC ANTIGEN

A process for the production of carcionembryonic antigen (CEA), comprises the steps of cultivating a CEA-producing cell line in a monolayer culture; further cultivating the said cell line on particulate microcarriers with continuous agitation of the culture medium, in at least one further cultivation step; harvesting the medium containing the desired CEA secreted by the cells; and purifying the CEA until iodination grade product is obtained.
