A simple, easy-to-handle device for cutting several optical waveguide fibres (1) which are inserted at the envisaged cutting point in parallel grooves on a support (5), the optical waveguide fibres (1) being held by at least two clamp devices (3, 4, 6) arranged on each side of the envisaged cutting point, one clamp device (3, 4) being mounted in a stationary fashion and the other (6) being mounted in such a way that it can be moved away from the cutting point, and a blade (8) which can be displaced perpendicularly to the axes of the optical waveguide fibres being present, which blade (8) slightly cuts into the optical waveguide fibres (1) at the envisaged cutting point, consists in the fact that the optical waveguide fibres (1) to be cut are clamped tight on a carrier (2) which is detachably connected to the cutting device and that either this carrier (2) or the support (5) which holds the optical waveguides (1) and on which the optical waveguide fibres (1) are slightly cut with the blade (8) is mounted so as to be displaceable in the axial direction of the optical waveguide fibres (1). <IMAGE>
