In a moulding, in particular a sleeve having the shape of a cylinder envelope and made of thermoplastic, with a shape memory produced by crosslinking, in particular for enveloping application, with the supply of heat, onto articles which are essentially round in cross section, for example cables or pipes, the moulding having a continuous longitudinally extending separation point, the aim is to provide a solution which, in the case of mouldings of this generic type, makes specific closure systems for the separating point unnecessary and makes possible an economic production process for the mouldings. This is achieved in that the use-shape or fitting-shape of the moulding (5) is formed from an original moulding (1) having the shape memory, in particular from an extruded, if appropriate slit and cross-linked tube, by subsequent change of shape, preferably with the supply of heat. <IMAGE>
