In order to reduce the equipment necessary in mountaineering, and specifically aids for relatively small rock cracks, i.e. where these become narrow, and to increase the safety of such jamming wedges, the articulated jamming wedge (1) is so designed that two or more jamming bodies (2, 3), whose contact surfaces (9, 10) are so designed that they are flexible within limits despite a secure connection of the jamming body (3) to a rope (11). The working surfaces (4, 5, 6, 7) are to be designed and arranged so that, in use, they add a maximum amount of jamming surface.
