PURPOSE:To obtain a fine amorphous metallic wire having stability to a bias magnetic field and maintaining superior magnetic characteristics peculiar to an amorphous Co alloy by melting an alloy obtd. by adding a specified element to a Co-Fe-Si-B alloy and by rapidly cooling the molten alloy to form a fine amorphous wire having a circular cross-section. CONSTITUTION:An alloy obtd. by adding a specified amount of at least one among Cr, Mo and Ni to a Co-Fe-Si-B alloy so as to provide a composition represented by formula I is melted. The molten alloy is spouted from a spinning nozzle made of quartz glass into cooling water at 4 deg.C in a rapidly rotating cylindrical drum, and the spouted alloy is solidified by rapid cooling to form a fine amorphous alloy wire having a circular cross-section. Thus, a fine amorphous metallic wire having stability to a bias magnetic field and maintaining superior magnetic characteristics such as low magnetostriction, high magnetic permeability and high saturation magnetic flux density peculiar to an amorphous Co alloy is obtd. The wire also has superior toughness. |
