In a built-up piston with a bottom part (1) composed of aluminium and a piston head (2) composed of a material capable of bearing higher mechanical loads, in which the two parts are screwed together, the screws in the bottom part of the piston emerge in a specified region around the plane of oscillation of the connecting rod, in which range the mechanical loading is lower than in a region directly adjacent to the piston bosses. In order, nevertheless, to have the screws engage on the piston head (2) in a manner uniformly distributed around the circumference, the screws (3) run obliquely to the piston axis. If the bottom part of the piston has through openings (5) for accommodating screws (3), the heads (7) of the screws rest against a steel thrust piece (8), each thrust piece taking up two screw heads (7). <IMAGE>
