PURPOSE:To obtain a steel channel having a nonsymmetrical and square cross section and high dimensional accuracy by shaping an intermediate, rough-shaped steel billet provided with a dummy projection, etc. by caliber rolling and then reformingly rolling it through an universal mill. CONSTITUTION:A nonsymmetrical, intermediate, rough-shaped billet 22 provided with a projection 16 and a roll draft at the side face of its flange, is shaped by caliber rolling. Next, the excess metal produced by said roll draft is rolled by an universal mill into a square cross section, to obtain a rough-shaped billet 38. Said steel billet 38 is successively reformed into a product dimension by providing a caliber rolling which contributes nothing to the rolling reduction in the thickness direction of the projection 16 and flange 14, to the billet 38. |
