<p>Mechanical pencil, in a chuck for gripping a lead (6) is formed with plural chuck elements (18) mutually combined each other. The chuck has an internal hole (25) to insert a lead through and a lead gripping portion (26) to grip the lead, while a lead guide tube (27) is movably inserted within the lead inserting hole. The lead guide tube will push to open the tip parts of the chuck elements in the direction of parting them each other when the guide tube is advanced, and the lead gripping portion will open to release the lead. The chuck is so designed to enable releasing and gripping the lead surely that it can be suitably used as a chuck mechanism sending the lead automatically.</p> |
