NEW MATERIAL:An antitumor polypeptide having the N-terminal amino acid sequence expressed by formula I (A is Arg or Lys; B, C and E are Arg or Pro; D is Ser or Lys; F is Lys or Val; G is Phe or Pro; X is unimmobilized amino acid) and further trypsine hydrolyzed fragments expressed by formulas II, III, etc. Molecular weight; 17,400+ or -500 (measured by the SDS electrophoresis method) Isoelectric point; pI5.7+ or -0.2 (measured by the gel isoelectric focusing method). USE:An antitumor agent capable of exhibiting cytotoxicity to human tumor cells without showing toxicity to human normal cells. PREPARATION:A human acute myelogenous leukemic cell THP-1 [Int. J. Cancer, 26, 171-176 (1980)] is brought into contact with a differentiation inducing substance, e.g. hemin or actinomycin D, and cultivated or suspended in a culture medium to afford the aimed novel antitumor polypeptide. |
