A hospital bed has a patient- supporting surface provided by a plurality of transversely-extending, inflatable sacs. Air-operated bellows (206, 207) are provided for raising and lowering the head and foot sections of the bed, and a tilt actuator is provided for tilting the bed. A control arrangement is provided for operating the bed functions. The control arrangement includes a manually- operable control device (204), and a pneumatically-operable control device (110).
