<p>An actuator for a handbrake by means of which one friction member (llA, llB) may be moved into engagement with a rotatable element (l2), said actuator including an actuator body (l3) defining a cylinder bore (l4) closed at one end by wall (l5) and at the other by a piston (l6) slidably located within the bore (l4). An adjustable mechanism (20) including an adjustable abutment means (22, 23) acts between the piston (l6) and wall (l5) to limit return movement of the piston (l6). The adjuster mechanism (20) includes free travel means operative to allow a limited free travel of the piston (l6) before adjustment of the abutment means (22, 23) commences and adjustable setting means (35), operable after final assembly of the actuator, to alter said limited free travel.</p> |
