Boiler drum branch connection - formed on thick-walled fittings and uses beading with subsequent calibrating to size

The fitting (1) e.g. for branch piece of a boiler drum is provided in the first operation with an opening (2) from which the ram (7) with a tool fitted forms bead (3) on the fitting. For this purpose the fitting is heated up to pressing temperature and placed on the beading matrix (4) with aperture (5) which is shaped to accommodate the bead (3). The tool by which the beading is carried out is introduced into the space (6) of the thick walled-fitting (1) and mandrel (7) carrying the ram (8) is subjected to a hydraulic pressure (P2).
