PURPOSE:To revolve the developing device without fault by laying the hopper during the revolution and raising the hopper during development and the toner is lacking in device to develop the latent image of the image holding body with one developing device by providing plural developing devices. CONSTITUTION:Plural developing devices 14(14a-14d) having the different color are fitted to a rotating frame 38, revoluted by a rotating shaft 36, and respective developing devices 14, are planetarily rotated by a rotating shaft 40. One selected developing device 14b is made relative to an image holding body 12, and the developing devices 14 are made to approach the developing devices 14 by a connecting and separating mechanism 52. Further, interlocking to drive a rotating driving system 150 for the developing device, a hopper 144 of the developing devices 14 is raised, and the angle is made larger than the repose angle of the toner. During the revolution of the developing devices 14, the hopper 144 is laid. When the toner is lacking, the hopper 144 is raised, and the alarm is generated. Consequently, since the hopper is raised or laid, the developing device can be revoluted smoothly even at the narrow space, and the toner can be effectively used and lacking can be detected. |
